Kids’ AW15 fashion trends | Metallics

As we have been taking a look at what is coming out in the way of kids’ Autumn/Winter 2015 fashion we have found there are a few distinct trends due to be big this season. The first one we are taking a look at is metallics, be it silver, bronze, copper or gold. It’s the minis’ chance to shine against any grey skies which may make an appearance as autumn creeps in.

metallics kids' fashion AW151. Kat Copper Dazzle sunglasses by Zoobug £55.00 – just a touch of metallic with these stylish sunglasses from the brand who makes wearing glasses cool. The frames can also be used as prescription glasses.

2. Magic jacket by Someday Soon £100.00 – Someday Soon has quickly become one of Georgie’s favourite boyswear brands – see our post here. Harry has the Someday Soon sweatshirt which features bronze metallic detail against a dark teal blue and black and looks amazing. The quality is excellent and when she saw this jacket at the Vida Kids PR showroom she was immediately drawn to it.

3. Embroidered playsuit by Next £18.00 – £23.00 – if all out metallic is a bit too much for you, there are some lovely pieces out there with just a hint such as this playsuit with bronze sequin detailing.

4. White foil text T-shirt by Someday Soon £30.00 – the T-shirt version of the jumper Harry has if bronze is not the metallic for you.

5. Silver cloud tutu by Angel’s Face £35.00 – £56.00 – team this with a hoodie and moon boots to give your little girl an little edge over the other ballerinas out there.

7. Gold crock effect bib by Les Pascalettes £35.00 – the ultimate weaning accessory for you little one.

8. Gold backpack by Molo £39.50 – we saw this on the always fabulous looking Charli of Alegre Media and it has stuck in our minds as a fun way of adding metallic to any kids’ outfit.

9. Velcro hi-tops by Boden £30.00 – £35.00 – let you little lady have the stars at her feet with these easy to wear trainers.

seventies trend ss15

As we flick through the pages of the glossy fashions magazines none of us can have failed to notice that the seventies style is back for Spring/Summer 2015. Although everyone agrees the Marks and Spencer suede skirt is THE skirt to be seen in as it launches in a couple of weeks time, realistically, as Mums, it is not the most practical of pieces – baby dribble on suede? No thank you. Therefore, here are our top picks of wearable seventies inspired pieces which can face the onslaught of dribble, sticky fingers and general mess which goes hand in hand with being a Mother.

Spring/Summer 2015 seventies trend

1. Hush crochet jumper £65.00 – a little nod to the 70’s, this jumper is an easy option which can be teamed with many different outfits – definitely on our wishlist!

2. Top Shop MOTO Jamie Flared Jeans £40.00 – flared jeans are “on trend” and there are some beautiful ones out there for over the £100.00 mark (we’re thinking Pilcro Superscript High-Rise Flare Jeans at Anthropologie). However, Top Shop are always a good bet for jeans and are a good price. The high-waist is perfect for us Mum’s who find ourselves constantly having to bend down to pick up dropped toys, tie up shoelaces and have a chat with a little person.

3. Marks and Spencer Leather Clog Sandals £45.00 – available in tan or nude (we think the tan look great). With the slight platform this makes them wearable. I had a similar style from hush last year (in black with a cork heel and slight platform) and they were so, so comfortable. I was hoping they would have similar this year so i could get the tan but alas, no. These ones are not far off though.

4. Ray-Ban sunglasses £125.00 – these oversized sunglasses are perfect for popping on if the kids have kept you awake the night before. Ray-Bans are a make which will last from season to season.

5. New Look Khaki Playsuit £19.99 – the seventies definitely loved a playsuit or jumpsuit and with the utility style it ticks that Spring/Summer 2015 trend as well. This one is so similar to a Baukjen one I purchased last year (which I got great wear out of) but at a bargain price. Much more practical than a summer dress as you can bend over in it to deal with general kiddie business without anyone seeing your underwear!

6. Zara Fringed suede bucket bag £49.99 – as we said, suede is not the best material to mix with kids but it is hard to ignore with the seventies trend all around so we caved into this bucket bag. This roomy bag ticks all the boxes for a seventies style accessory and is not too bad a price. Perfect for summer and would look great with the other items featured. If we felt like really treating ourselves (or if someone else wanted to treat us!) then the All Saints Lea Fringes Bag also gets our vote.

7. Mu du London Felt floppy hat £38.00 – this hat is so versatile. Keeps the sun at bay to stop those pesky wrinkles from developing on our face and hides a bad hair day. This would work with any of the other items in this list.

8. Anthropologie Pintuck Peasant Blouse £78.00 – simply beautiful and so easy to style and wear not just with seventies trend flared jeans but any style of jean going as well as shorts. A throw on and go top. Love, love, love it.

9. asos Denim Shorts – these shorts are not too tight or short so are an option for those of us not to sure about wearing short shorts. We also like the Hush denim shorts featured in our denim post (they have a longer hem at the back – I have these and was surprised at how flattering they were – I thought they would be a send back item but they have made it into my summer wardrobe!).

10. asos Maxi Dress with Embroidered Trims £55.00 – this may not be the most practical of our choices but with so many kid-friendly festivals in the Summer, this is hard to resist and a maxi dress is perfect if you don’t want your legs on display.

11. Charlotte Tilbury Beach Stick Bronze and Blush Kit £55.00 – you have the clothes now the makeup to finish it off. Charlotte Tilbury’s beach sticks are easy to use and give a carefree, relaxed summer glow.

We have our favourites – what are yours?
