our staycation makeup essentials

We’ve packed our clothes, sorted out our skincare so now its the turn of makeup. On a staycation, things are relaxed so makeup usually reflects that. Natural but slightly better. On our staycation to Devon, these are the makeup essentials which have made it into our makeup bag.

1. Powder / bronzer brush £13.99 by Real Techniques – this retractable brush by the cult makeup brush brand Real Techniques is perfect for packing into a makeup bag without ruining the bristles.

2. Les Beiges All-In-One Healthy Glow Fluid £30.60 by Chanel – we have reviewed Chanel’s CC Cream here and this, which came out last year is a lighter version with an almost velvet-to-the-touch finish without being too matt. The lightweight formula and SPF 15 is perfect for a light base on holiday.

3. Eye concealer “The Eraser Eye” £7.99 by Maybelline – another lightweight formula which blurs out undereye dark circles without being cake.

4. Bonne Mine Stick Face blush in Coral Glow £26.00 by Laura Mercier – a coral/peach blush with a very subtle golden sheen. Not shimmery at all, this bus is like a calmer version of Nars “Orgasm” blush.

5. Summer Collection Terracotta Moisturising Bronzing Power £37.50 by Guerlain – a classic bronzer. This year it comes with a silicone shell to help protect it from bumps and bashes in the make-up bag.

6. Infallible Mega Lip Glosses in the Neon range £6.99 by L’Oreal (colours from top – Miami Vice, Hot For Hawaii and More of Bora Bora – swatches below) – we have been amazed at how similar they are to YSL Tint-in-Oil. Two of the colours are very subtle whilst the third is a punchy bright pink. They moisturise and are easy to apply thanks to the doe-foot style applicator.

7. Fresh Effect Eyeshadow £23.00 by Chanel (swatch below) – when applying this eyeshadow it feels cool to the eye lid – ideal in to weather. The pigment is amazing. This colour, “Laurier Rose” is an orangey-pink (which is an odd way to describe a colour, we know!) and perfect for those with blue eyes and super easy to apply.

8. Cream and powder eyeshadow £46.00 by Tom Ford (the colour featured, “Golden Peach” (swatch below) seems to have sold out but there are other colour options available) – a dream to apply. the whipped cream eyeshadow feels so light but wears well and the shimmery powder means it can be layered up to create more of an impact if required (or both shades can be worn alone).

9. Clump Defy Waterproof Mascara £10.99 by Max Factor – a waterproof mascara is a must on a coastal holiday!

10. Double Entendre Nail Varnish – base and top coat in “Fight For Orange” £7.99 by L’Oreal – this nail varnish seems to last and the top coat really keeps its shine. Its being packed just in case of chips.
