We had the pleasure of attending the Bubble London kids trade show at the Business Design Centre in London on Sunday and thought we would share with you some of the gorgeous brands we discovered there.
One of the first stalls we stopped at was Elks of Ireland where we met Lucy and Simon. Exclusively designing and hand-making exquisite sustainable childrens clothing in Ireland, Elks of Ireland uses materials like handwoven Donegal tweed, beautiful Irish linen, rare alpaca wool and finest merino and produces clothes that will last a lifetime. Most definitely heirloom pieces in our opinion. The clothes were simply divine, and the tweed jackets and coats are not to be missed.
We then stopped by the MoochicBaby stall. MoochicBaby have developed a line of 100% cotton childrens muslins, nightwear, quilts and dohar blankets (best for swaddling, bed sheets, summer covers). We were drawn to the bold colours and designs of the collection and learnt that each item is handcrafted in India using the centuries old craft, hand block printing. This printing technique makes each item unique, with variations in colour and print being a natural part of the process.
We were also fortunate enough to meet Carly at the Braveling stand. Braveling is the home of the Little Titans range of colourful and bold cotton tights. The unisex tights have the most wonderful vivid designs that could be happily worn out and about just as much as for play. Little Hero, Party Monster and Wild Thing designs are some of our favourites, but the new Imagine range for 3 to 8 year-olds was a winner in our book too. We look forward to seeing them in shops this Autumn.
Last, but by absolutely no means least, we came across the fabulous team at Rockin’ Baby. Rockin’ Baby started out as a company selling slings, and by 2011 had been acquired by the new owner and evolved into a “Mother to Mother” business. The “Mother to Mother” initiative ensures that for every sling sold, another is donated to a mother in need in Haiti or Kenya.
The company has now evolved and will be launching a children’s clothing line for Autumn/Winter 2015. The clothing collection comprises of themes including Space, Circus, Woodland Wonderland, Hero and Forest Friends and we were lucky enough to view a good part of the range. There are some delightful pieces, the Circus and Space themed clothing definitely grabbed our eye. Rockin’ Baby’s new mission to go alongside the clothing launch is entitled “Child to Child”, and for every item of clothing purchased, another will be donated to an orphaned child suffering due to the Ebola crisis.
We were both very touched by the story behind Rockin’ Baby and will let you know more in a later post. Also, be sure to watch this space to see whether they were able to convert Georgie into a sling-wearer…
